Cross-Media Alliances to Stop Disinformation: A Real Solution?

Social networks have surpassed their intermediary role and become gatekeepers of online content traffic. This transformation has favored the spread information disorders. The situation is especially alarming in Spain, where 57% Spaniards at some moment believed false news. Since 2016, First Draft promoted several collaborative verification projects that brought together newsrooms to fact-check false, misleading confusing claims circulating during presidential elections countries. main objective this article study collaboration forged between Spain order debunk disinformation contents 2019 under name Comprobado (Verified) impact initiative. Applying a methodological approach based on non-participant observation, interviews, analysis reports, scientific articles, books media archives, we examine internal uses platform, how journalists verified public discourse, strategies agreements implemented, degree participation 16 involved.
